Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better popularly known as Ari Lennox, is an American artist and performer from Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to become a member of J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. The first album she released from the label on October 21st, 2016, titled Pho. This is when she gained recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her first album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7 2019. Ari Lennox started posting her music to the internet back in 2012 after she launched her debut mixtape, Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography In 2013. In 2014 she continued to release her music on the web, including her own issued single Bound. In 2015she sung in Omen's Elephant Eyes Album, performing the song Sweat it out on 21st July. Her music was circulating around the Dreamville team as J. Cole wanted her to join him in creating some of the references for Rihanna. On the 8th of December, it was announced that she was hired by Dreamville Records. She appeared on the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II in the track Backseat featuring Cozz. She dropped Pho, her debut EP on October 21 the 21st of October, 2016. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's track Change in 2017 and also as an opening act on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. In 2018, she was able to be a guest in two songs featuring her label-mates EarthGang with Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. On July 16, 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single, Whipped Cream from her debut album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video, which was released on the 5th of September. She dropped her follow-up single for Grampa on November 9. In November 13, she released two more singles: One and Pedigree. One as well as Pedigree. She was featured with Cole on her Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby, on November 16, then made the track available as a single by herself for her first album. A music video came out on 20 February 2019 in conjunction with the song. Within the first week, it had over 3,000,000 views. She was a supporting act on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour together with 6LACK.
